07/2025 — FEEDBACK LOOPS
The Jacquard Loom, which used punch cards to encode designs into intricate woven fabrics, stands as an early example of programmatic thinking in the arts and crafts. Much like the printing press, the Jacquard Loom revolutionized textiles by introducing a semi-automated method of production. Often considered one of the first "computers" due to its binary-coded punch card system, the Jacquard Loom bridged the worlds of art and technology, establishing an interdisciplinary foundation that continues to evolve today in fields such as artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and genetics.

Through our exhibition Feedback Loops, we aim to explore the diverse ways in which artists engage with the intersection of art and technology. The show will delve into the broader implications of this relationship, touching on themes such as labor, automation, consciousness, craft, and authorship.

If you have work related to this theme that you would like to share, please contact us at contact@envelope.services.

Hadad’s Lake Art Show

Wet Wet
In the Summer of 2012, we organized a group art exhibit on our roof as part of the annual Bushwick Open Studios events that took place across Bushwick in Brooklyn, New York. The theme of the show was celebrating summertime, a season filled with sweat, swimming pools, and summer storms. It was a simple tribute to a season that is inherently wet, in all forms of the word.

Contributors included: Moch Hahn, Conor Backman, Beth Noe, Carol Peligian, Amy  Lombard, Joseph Talman, Mauricio Vargas, Alex Royle, Emerald Grippa, and Seth Adelsberger.

Life In The Cell
Life in the Cell was the name of a public tumblr account where countless contributors sent in their cell phone images of their daily lives. The mix of content ranges from the somber to the absurd, from the mundane to the perplexing. Split between a community of contributors across Richmond, New York and Los Angeles, the photos depict perspectives unique to their locations, but also a general aura of the time when tumblr and web 2.0 blogger culture was at it’s peak.

We ended up creating a zine and organizing a photo show in 2011 at Trumbel Gallery in Brooklyn that displayed some of our favorite photos found on the site.

Contributors to the zine included: Chino Amobi, Bunny Walker, Travess Smalley, Othelo Gervacio, Scott Campbell, Kai Regan, Jake Sumner, Julia Chiang, Anna Sheffield, and Lele Sevari.
